Directive to make Lahore a ‘Livable City’
LAHORE:LDA Director General Tahir Farooq said that concrete steps need to be taken to make Lahore a ‘Livable City’ as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab. Plantations, greenery, cycling and other environment-friendly initiatives should be promoted with the support of the private sector.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq said this while chairing an important meeting about the working and performance of LDA Chief Metropolitan Planning (CMP) Wing.
In the meeting, a detailed briefing was presented on the working and performance of the CMP Wing and the measures taken by the directions of Private Housing Schemes against illegal housing schemes. LDA DG directed in the meeting that records of public utility sites and mortgage plots should be digitised and compliance regarding implementation of LDA rules should be ensured in housing schemes. He directed the officers concerned to formulate concrete plan for CMP wing revenue generation and said that CMP Wing should take steps on private sector model under Ease of Doing Business.
Additional DG UP Khalid Goraya, Chief Metropolitan Planning Faisal, Director Private Housing Scheme Asad Ullah Cheema, Director Monitoring, Director CMP, deputy director Private Housing Scheme and related officers participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, on the directions of LDA DG, LDA teams conducted an operation against illegal constructions and commercialisation in Johar Town, Pine Avenue, OPF and Abdalian Society.
Team of LDA Town Planning Zone Four took action and demolished seven illegal properties while sealing more than a dozen properties. LDA teams demolished illegal construction in Plot No. 185 A-2, 153 E-1, 12 F-2 in Johar Town, Plot No. 970-L, 272 R-2 in Lahore Avenue Society Pine Avenue Plot No. 16 and Plot No. 243 in COPF Society were demolished during the operation.
During the operation, LDA teams sealed Plot No. 24-C in Abdalian Society, and Plot No. 3-B 2, 386-N, 167 G-3, 104-F, 32-R, 190-F, 12-A, Block K, 35-H-3, 136-B, 8-R-1, 584, 955-Q and 728 R-1 have been sealed in Johar Town. Several prior notices were issued to the properties sealed or demolished. The operation was conducted by Director Town Planning Four under the supervision of Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali.
