33,500 owners of overloaded vehicles fined
LAHORE:The Axle Load Management System has imposed fine on owners of 33,500 overloaded vehicles and registered more than 1,800 overloaded vehicles.
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated this addressing a progress review meeting at the PITB office on Wednesday. The meeting was told that at the same time, more than 47,000 trips were registered through the said system.
The PITB chairman said Axle Load Management regime will also enhancer revenue generation for the government and will preserve the infrastructural assets by increasing life of roads and reducing maintenance cost.
The participants were told that the system was aimed at enhancing the road safety of travelers by restricting overloaded vehicles on roads and ensure transparency in freight forwarding for government departments. The Axle System was developed by the PITB in collaboration with the Punjab Transport & Mass transit Department.
