Biggest Ramazan package operation completed: Shafay

LAHORE:A meeting of the ministerial committee to monitor the Ramazan relief package was held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.

Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin and the secretaries of the departments concerned attended the meeting. Divisional Commissioners participated in the meeting through a video link. In the meeting, implementation of Ramazan package, availability of essential items, prices and monitoring process were reviewed. Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce said that on the instructions of CM, the delivery of the biggest Ramazan package was successfully completed at the doorsteps of the common people. Around 5,035,000 deserving families were delivered quality food hampers at their doorsteps. Ch Shafay Hussain said that there should be no shortage of chicken during Eid and the last 10 days of Ramazan and prices should not be increased. Price control magistrates should be present in the field to provide relief to the people. He said that essential items were available at 25% lower price at agricultural fair price shops in Ramazan and Model Bazaars. Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin said that there has been a trend of reduction in prices due to better supply of essential commodities during Ramazan.

Mines & Minerals Dept achieves notable success

Provincial Secretary of Mines and Minerals Babar Aman Babar has said that the department has achieved remarkable success through a strategic focus on fairness and transparency as evidenced by the recent auctions.

A surge of competitive bidding resulted in record-breaking bids amount of Rs3 billion, a significant increase from past contracts valued at Rs1.6 billion.

This unprecedented achievement, marking an 85 percent surge in bid values, underscores the efficacy of the Punjab government’s anti-corruption initiatives. He commended the deputy director of Sargodha and the dedicated auction team for their exemplary efforts. He emphasised the importance of expediting actions on all auctions promptly, issuing directives to the director general of Mines to ensure swift execution. The successful auction in Sargodha district not only reflects the Punjab government’s unwavering resolve to eradicate corruption but also signifies a pivotal step towards fostering a fair and transparent environment within the mining sector.
