Turkish companies to invest in Punjab: envoy

LAHORE: Punjab and Turkiye has agreed to increase trade cooperation as Turkish companies want to increase their investment in the province.

The agreement was reached in a meeting between the Consul General of Turkiye Mr Durmus Bastug and the Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain held here in the committee room of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade.

During the meeting, bilateral trade cooperation, problems of Turkish companies and matters of mutual interest were discussed. The Council General of Turkiye said that many Turkish companies have invested in Punjab and wanted to increase their investment here.

Shafay said that Turkish companies should install solar panels, electric vehicles and waste-to-energy plants in Punjab. Turkish companies should take advantage of the investment opportunities in various sectors of Punjab. The government will provide all possible facilities to investors, he added. He said that Punjab wanted to benefit from the Turkish technology. He said that contacts and meetings would be continued to increase trade cooperation.

‘I am determined to improve technical education institutions and their labs, Turkiye can also provide support in the promotion of technical education’, he added. The minister assured that all problems of Turkish companies would be solved on priority basis.
