ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered Chief Commissioner Islamabad to file a report again about the situation of prisoners of Islamabad in the Adiala jail.
The court issued the order on Wednesday on the petition for arranging meeting of Imran’s lawyers with the PTI founder in Adiala jail.
The petition on restriction on jail meetings of PTI founder came up for hearing before Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir. The Adiala jail authorities appeared in the court. On the order of the court, superintendent Adiala jail filed a report on the number of cases in which the PTI founder was imprisoned in jail.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked how the prisoners of Islamabad are kept in Adiala jail. There will be some notification. Whatever has been settled between administration of chief commissioner Islamabad with the jail authorities should be filed in the court.
The state counsel said Additional Advocate General (AAG), Punjab, Baligh-uz-Zaman, has informed the Islamabad High Court that the notification on ban on meetings for 14 days has become ineffective.
Sher Afzal Marwat said the Interior Ministry issued a notification that no meeting could be held in jail. He said Aftab Bajwa was asking for a court order if a meeting was to be arranged.
The state counsel of Punjab government said when the PTI founder was in Attock, then such a problem was not being faced.
Sher Afzal Marwat said the Punjab government had placed a list of 28 persons before the PTI founder. The court remarked, “Sher Afzal Marwat Sahib you should also cooperate with jail authorities.” The court adjourned the hearing of the case after Eid.
