Minister for Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Wednesday visited the Punjab Board of Technical Education, inspected various sectors and planted saplings in connection with the plantation campaign.
Chairman Board Dr Nazer Khan gave a briefing on working of the institution, organisational structure, the steps taken and the future plan of action. The minister while addressing the meeting said that old technology should be changed and focus should be on latest technology.
The use of modern technology can bring more transparency in the examination system, the minister said and added teachers training programme is very important to improve the quality of education. The provincial minister said that solar technology courses are necessary for the production of solar panels at the local level.
The provincial minister asked for a report on the trend of declining enrollment in mechanical technology course. He said that practical is important with theory, labs are being upgraded, enrollment can be increased by improving the practical system and skilled manpower can be sent abroad by improving the quality of technical education.
Chairman Punjab Board of Technical Education said that Punjab Board of Technical Education is ISO certified, conducts examinations for 884 courses.
