Pakistan is in the throes of the worst economic logjam today mainly because of the long-running political instability and rule of the unelected governments in the centre as well as in the federating units. After the formation of the governments following the general polls on Feb. 8, 2024, the political uncertainty still continues to persist and there seems no possibility of its culmination in the near future as the central government is following the same path as the caretakers were doing. It failed to constitute a judicial commission to probe into the alleged irregularities and fraud in the general elections.
The government must demonstrate maturity and magnanimity and focus on this issue seriously so that the inflation-ridden country is steered out of this labyrinth of crises. If the government is still reluctant to take any concrete steps in this regard, the future of the incumbent government may be uncertain or may not achieve the desired targets.
