Alleged statements against institutions: PTI MNA case transferred to another bench

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday ordered the transferring of a writ petition of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker against the notice issued by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to another bench.

The FIA submitted a report in the court as well. A division bench of the PHC comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Wiqar Ahmad heard the petition filed by Member National Assembly Shandana Gulzar against a notice by FIA for anti-institution statements.

Muazzam Butt advocate represented the petitioner while Additional Attorney General Sanaullah pleaded the case for the federal government. During the hearing, AAG Sanaullah said that the FIA had submitted its report and the inquiry officer was also present in the court.

He said that FIA officials had come from Lahore and expenses incurred on their traveling, adding that the court should hear the case.The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that his client belonged to Peshawar while the FIA, Lahore, had issued a notice to her to appear for recording a statement for negative statements against the state institutions.However, the bench recused and transferred the petition to another bench to hear the case today (Tuesday)
