Interfaith Iftar held to observe Pakistan Day
LAHORE: LifeAtLahore, in partnership with the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), held an inspiring interfaith Iftar at Masjid Wazir Khan Chowk on Pakistan Day.
This year's event was a profound celebration of unity and peace, beautifully highlighted by the participation of non-Muslim friends who graciously served meals to Muslim attendees observing their fast.
Organised by LifeAtLahore, a cultural and citizens' rights campaign led by Kashf Shah (#ShahofLahore), and supported by the Walled City of Lahore Authority, the event stood as a beacon of interfaith harmony. The gathering was distinguished by the heartwarming act of non-Muslim community members serving Iftar to their fasting Muslim brethren, a gesture that resonated deeply with the spirit of Ramazan and underscored the values of compassion and solidarity.
Kamran Lashari, Director General of the Walled City Lahore Authority, shared, "This special interfaith Iftar, especially poignant on the eve of Pakistan Day, was a vibrant testament to our shared values of peace, unity, and inclusivity. Seeing our non-Muslim friends actively participate by serving meals to those fasting was a powerful expression of mutual respect and brotherhood. We are honored to facilitate such a meaningful event in partnership with LifeAtLahore."
Kashf Shah, Founder and Chairperson of LifeAtLahore, extended his heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event, remarking, “Today’s Iftar was a profound reminder of the strength found in unity and the beauty of diverse communities coming together in service and celebration. A special thanks to the Culture Wing and Social Mobilization Team at the Walled City of Lahore Authority, Allah Walay Trust all our community partners, and particularly our non-Muslim friends who served meals, embodying the spirit of togetherness and compassion that is essential to Ramazan.”
Held in the historic backdrop of Masjid Wazir Khan Chowk, known for its stunning Mughal architecture, the event was attended by notable guests, government officials, community leaders, and individuals from various faiths.
The unique participation of non-Muslims serving meals to Muslims fasting for Ramazan highlighted the importance of preserving Lahore's cultural heritage while promoting an environment of mutual respect and understanding across different communities.
LifeAtLahore extends its sincere thanks to the Walled City of Lahore Authority, all community partners, and particularly to the non-Muslim friends who served the meals, for their unwavering commitment to making the Interfaith Iftar a profound symbol of unity and peace.
