National education emergency declared in Pakistan
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, has taken decisive action to tackle the education crisis gripping Pakistan. In a high-level meeting Wednesday, Minister Siddiqui expressed grave concern over the significant number of out-of-school children and unveiled ambitious plans to address this pressing issue.
During the meeting, Minister Siddiqui announced his intention to advise the Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet to declare a national education emergency, signalling a firm commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education. This bold move aims to bring back the out-of-school children into the education system and prevent further disparity in educational opportunities.
In a proactive step towards equipping the future workforce with essential skills, Minister Siddiqui directed the Ministry to expedite the formulation of a strategy to train one million technology and IT-skilled workers. This initiative, funded by the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), underscores the government's commitment to preparing the workforce for the demands of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Furthermore, Minister Siddiqui unveiled plans for a comprehensive School Meals Program to be implemented in all Islamabad Government Primary Schools. This initiative not only prioritizes proper nutrition for students but also aims to promote their overall health and hygiene, emphasizing the government's dedication to holistic child development.
Recognizing the crucial role of girls' education in national development, Minister Siddiqui emphasized the need to narrow the gender literacy gap. He pledged unwavering support for initiatives aimed at improving access to education for girls, acknowledging it as a fundamental step towards achieving broader development goals.
To foster collaboration and innovative solutions, Minister Siddiqui announced the organization of a National Conference in collaboration with SIFC. This conference will focus on addressing the issue of out-of-school children and combating learning poverty through the transformative power of technology.
In conclusion, Minister Siddiqui reiterated the government's steadfast commitment to revolutionizing the education sector in Pakistan. Through comprehensive strategies and collaboration with key stakeholders, the Ministry aims to create a brighter future for the nation's youth, ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of education and opportunity.
