Deputy superintendents of five jails suspended

LAHORE: Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal has suspended deputy superintendents of five different jails on the basis of complaints against them.

Adeel Akram Cheema, Deputy Superintendent District Jail Narowal, was suspended and the charge was given to Muhammad Shaukat. Muhammad Ahmed, Deputy Superintendent District Jail Pakpattan, has been suspended and Rana Nasir, Deputy Superintendent, has been given additional charge. Ali Raza Deputy, Superintendent Central Jail Mianwali, has been suspended and the charge has been given to Ashiq Hussain, Deputy Superintendent Jail.

Sarfraz Khan, Deputy Superintendent District Jail Sargodha, was suspended and Asif Mumtaz was given additional charge. While suspending Shaukat Ali, Deputy Superintendent Central Jail Multan, orders have been issued to give additional charge to Deputy Superintendent Arif Habib.

The government is following the policy of turning prisons into correctional centres, said the home secretary said. The home secretary visited to IG Jail and heard complaints received by the complainant cell of the jail and directed the staff to redress them.
