LAHORE: Aseefa Bhutto Zardari is the seventh person directly related to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who is making her electoral debut.

If emerged victorious, like Bilawal, she will be the only member of the National Assembly whose parents have served as prime minister and president, and both held these offices for two terms.

Since her grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s electoral debut in 1970, the members directly related to him, including his wife Begum Nusrat Bhutto, his two children Benazir Bhutto and Mir Murtaza Bhutto, his son-in-law Asif Ali Zardari, daughter-in-law Ghinwa Bhutto, grandson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and cousin Mumtaz Bhutto, have made electoral debuts in various general elections.

Now Aseefa is another member related to ZAB directly who is contesting for a seat in the National Assembly. After Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, his wife Begum Nusrat Bhutto and daughter Benazir Bhutto made their electoral debuts in 1988 and reached the National Assembly.

In 1993, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, son of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto became a member of Sindh Assembly in 1993. Bhutto’s grandson and son of Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal made his electoral debut in 2018 and became a member of National Assembly.

Now, it is Aseefa who is contesting for the National Assembly seat. Zardari made his electoral debut in 1985 from the same district, Nawabshah but he could not win. He won in 1990 from Lyari and became a member of the National Assembly and also served as senator as well as president of the country in later years. He is also the current President of the country.

Ghinwa Bhutto also contested the National Assembly election from Larkana in 2008 on PPP-SB ticket but lost to PPP’s Nisar Khuhro.Mumtaz Bhutto, the cousin of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, also served as Sindh chief minister.
