NOWSHERA: The officials of Motorway Police narrowly escaped when militants opened fire on their vehicle in Kund area in Khairabad, officials said on Sunday.
Motorway Police officials Muhammad Iqbal Barakzai and Mir Azam Khan told the police that they were on their way to Jehangira from Khairabad during routine patrolling.They said that when they reached Kund Camp in Khairabad, two militants opened indiscriminate fire on them.
The officials added that they escaped unhurt, but their official vehicle was severely damaged in the firing.They said that the attackers fled the scene while taking advantage of darkness.Soon after the incident, the officials of Motorway Police and other law enforcing agencies rushed to the spot.
They cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.Meanwhile, an organization with the name of Ansarul Jihad had claimed responsibility for the attack.
