Directive to accelerate work on uplift projects in city

LAHORE : Director General LDA Tahir Farooq visited various development projects in the city on Saturday and inaugurated Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road and Ravi Bridge Extension projects.

Chief Engineer LDA Israr Saeed gave a briefing to the LDA DG about the projects. He told that asphalt work on package two, installation of stitch beam and side service road was in progress and will be completed very soon.

LDA DG conducted a detailed review of all sections of Package Two (Babu Sabu to Saggian) and directed the contractor to speed up the work. He also inspected Package One in detail.

Tahir Farooq instructed to speed up the work of desilting of the service road and drain around Package One. Later, LDA DG also visited Ravi Bridge Extension Project where Chief Engineer LDA gave a briefing and told him that 44 out of 52 piles of Ravi Bridge project have been completed, 66 out of 93 girders were also completed, 44 piers were ready, 5 out of 13 transoms have also been prepared and overall 60% of the project work has been completed.

Israr Saeed told the LDA DG that launching of the girders will be started in the next two weeks. LDA DG directed to speed up the development work besides appreciating the LDA’s Chief Engineer and his team for steady monitoring of the ongoing projects.

Later, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited various city roads to review the working of Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA). He reviewed the working of TEPA teams in the areas of GOR, Gulberg III and MM Alam Road.

He reviewed the ongoing patchwork and illegal board removal campaign by TEPA. Chief Engineer TEPA Iqrar Hussain and Project Director briefed about the working of the teams.

LDA DG directed that the patchwork to be standardised and missing curb stones should also be installed on the roads. He directed that all illegally installed boards should be removed, only approved boards were allowed to be installed.

Chief Engineer TEPA told the LDA DG that the agency will carry out patchwork and removal of illegal boards on major roads of the city in a phased manner. LDA DG also visited MM Alam Road, reviewed the ongoing activities.

LDA DG directed that encroachments should be removed from the footpath on both sides of MM Alam Road. The encroachments, parking and generators placed on footpath should be removed.

LDA DG Tahir Farooq directed that no parking boards should be installed as per requirement, lane marking should be done and parking rules should be strictly implemented to improve traffic flow.

Meanwhile, an important meeting about LDA sports complexes was held under the chairmanship of LDA DG. In the meeting, Chief Engineer LDA and Director Sports LDA gave a briefing.

In the meeting, operational issues of functional sports complexes of LDA were discussed while briefings were given on LDA's Gulbarg, Sabzazar, Tajpura and Santnagar sports complexes, which were fully functional.

More than 22 indoor and outdoor facilities were being provided to the citizens in these sports complexes, told Israr Saeed adding six more sports complexes were under construction which include EME, Kahna, China Scheme, Shahdara and others.

LDA DG directed to improve the marketing of all functional sports complexes and called for the completion plan of the sports complex under construction.

Additional DG Headquarters, Chief Engineer LDA, Director Sports LDA, Director Finance, Director Action, Director Building and related officers were present in the meeting. Later Tahir Farooq visited LDA Sports Complex Gulberg and reviewed the facilities and measures available in the Sports Club. Director Sports briefed LDA DG on the administrative issues of Gulberg Sports Complex.
