Drive to check spurious medicines launched
LAHORE: The primary and secondary healthcare department has initiated a crackdown on spurious, unregistered and substandard medicines in the province.
This action aimed at eliminating the manufacturing and sale of counterfeit drugs that pose serious risks to public health. Recognising the threat these drugs pose, the government has labelled dealers and manufacturers of spurious medicines as enemy of humanity.
These views were expressed by the Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Kh Imran Nazeer, while talking to media after conducting surprise raids on pharmacies located on Multan Road, on Thursday. He said that these pharmacies were involved in manufacturing the unregistered homeopath and herbal products, upon which these units were sealed and their products were seized and samples sent to DTL for testing.
