Two minors killed in Bhabra Bazaar gas leak explosion

Rawalpindi: Two children were burnt to death while their mother was injured in a gas leakage explosion in a house in Bhabra Bazaar, Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) failed to address the leakage of gas despite repeated complaints, said the residents of the area. Two children, 7-month-old Arham and 3-year-old Ayat, children of Muhammad Banaras died on the spot while 28-year-old Reema their mother was burnt by 40 to 50 per cent and shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital in critical condition. According to the rescue officials, the incident occurred due to a leakage of gas. Rescue 1122 spokesman told ‘The News’ that on Tuesday they received a total of 24 gas leakage complaints in Rawalpindi. “We have received four gas leakage blast complaints as well in which two children died while their mother was in critical condition here in BBH.”

He said that Rescue 1122 had informed SNGPL officials about these gas leakage blasts. The other victims due to gas leakage blasts in several other areas in Rawalpindi include 19-year-old Amreen, 45-year-old Parveen, 45-year-old Intizar, 16-year-old Abiha, all residents of Tipu Road, Allah Hoo Chowk were shifted to DHQ Hospital. 45-year-old Faiz, a resident of Sada Road Street No 2 near PSO Pump Girja Road was shifted to BBH. 18-month-old Shahzaib, 3-year-old Noor, 30-year-old Sobia residents of St No 2, Qureshiabad Rawalpindi were shifted to DHQ.
