Violent protest: ATC grants bail to PTI activists
ALPURI: Over three dozen activists and workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained bail before arrest (BBA), who were recently booked following a violent protest after general elections in Shangla.
The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Swat, confirmed the BBA of over three dozen PTI workers and activists after the lawyers presented arguments.The party local leadership has congratulated the PTI workers and activists and demanded judicial inquiry into the February 9 events in Alpuri.
The leaders also demanded compensation for the PTI workers and activists killed and injured during the protest against the alleged rigging in election results.Two persons had been killed and over 100 others, including seven cops, had sustained injuries when the situation during a protest staged by the supporters of PTI-backed candidates, turned violent.
The police later registered cases against 1200 PTI workers and supporters under various sections of law, including 324, 302, ATA and others and arrested several of them. The activists were protesting against the delay in releasing the results.The police later constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the protest and violence.
