Governor asks political parties to cooperate for economic recovery
Hyderabad: The country is economically weak currently and at the moment, no single political party can improve the economy, due to which all the parties in the coalition government should unite to take the country out of the difficult situation.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori made this remark on Thursday as he spoke to the media in Sehwan where he inaugurated the Urs of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. He said that instead of trying to fix each other, we should try to fix the economy of the country.
“I request the independent candidates who have joined the Sunni Ittehad Council through the media that we all need to fight hard to improve the economy of the country,” Tessori said.
To a question regarding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) decision to join the government, he said all the parties had the right to present their demands in political negotiations according to their manifestos so that they could serve the people of their constituencies.
In an apparent reference to his recent audio leak and that of MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal, he said details of political negotiations that were under way should not be leaked and publicly spread as they spoiled the political environment.
Every political party’s mandate should be recognised, the governor said. He added that the people of Sindh had given their mandate to the Pakistan Peoples Party, which should be respected, and similarly, the mandate of every other party should be duly respected.
To a question, Tessori remarked that the president of Pakistan was holding a responsible position and he should realise that the world’s focus was on the democratic transition of power in Pakistan.
The governor said the president should facilitate the formation of the new government. He added that any attempt was made to disrupt the process, it would have exacerbate the economy.
He said the political parties should be patient and they should foresee the future because the whole nation was hoping that the new government would heal their wounds and take the country towards the path of development.
The Auqaf secretary, Culture Director General Munawar Ali Mahesar, Hyderabad commissioner and Jamshoro deputy commissioner were also present on the occasion. The governor appreciated the arrangements made by them for the Sufi Saint’s Urs.
Meanwhile, on the first day of the 772nd Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, an event was organised by the Sindh culture department at the Sehwan Library. Mahesar attended the event as the chief guest. Book stalls and music had been arranged at the event. Many book lovers were delighted to see books being offered at discounted price. Many instrumentalists performed on the Alghoza, Been, Tabla and Shehnai and mesmerised the audience.
