Imran, Bushra indicted in £190m case
The court then adjourned the hearing till March 6. The statements of five witnesses will be recorded in the next hearing
ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court Tuesday indicted the PTI founder chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million corruption case.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana read the charge sheet. Khan and Bushra, who were present in the courtroom, denied the charges against them. The judge conducted the hearing at Adiala Jail.
Imran is the primary accused in the case while Bushra, Shahzad Akbar, Zulfiqar Bukhari, Zia Mustafa and Farah Shehzadi aka Farah Gogi are the co-accused. The court also issued a summons for five witnesses out of 58 witnesses.
Imran’s counsel argued that a copy of the reference should have been provided to the accused at least a week before the indictment adding that around 50 important documents were not readable. “We do not want any obstacles during the indictment process,” said the lawyer. He further said a request had also been submitted seeking another copy of the documents.
The court then adjourned the hearing till March 6. The statements of five witnesses will be recorded in the next hearing.
