ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought a detailed report from IG Sindh, Prosecutor General (PG) Sindh and SSP Keamari on a petition seeking the dismissal of several cases registered against former interior minister Sheikh Rashid.

The petition filed by Sheikh Rashid seeking dismissal of the cases registered against him came up for hearing before Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri of IHC Tuesday. Sheikh Rashid along with his counsel Sardar Abdul Razzaq advocate appeared in the court. DSP Sindh police also appeared and filed a report of a case registered in police station Mochko.

The court inquired if this report was framed in consultation with IG and SSP to which he responded that the report had been worked out in consultation with the court orders. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri while directing the Sindh police to provide the report to Sheikh Rashid’s counsel remarked you should see the report first and then we start the hearing again.

Thereafter the court announced an interval for some time. When the court resumed the hearing the IHC expressed dissatisfaction over Sindh’s police report. The court ordered IG Sindh to present the report. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri remarked there is still time for two weeks and if a detailed report is not presented by then contempt of court proceedings will be initiated.

He directed the DSP to inform the three officers (IG Sindh, Prosecutor General Sindh and SSP Keamari) that if the court orders are not implemented then all of them will be sent to jail. The court while summoning reports from Sindh police and Prosecutor General adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
