LAHORE: The election for the Punjab chief minister will be held on Monday.
After the election of speaker and deputy speaker of Punjab Assembly on Saturday, the session of the Punjab Assembly was adjourned till 11:00am on Monday.
Punjab chief minister will be elected on Monday, February 26, while the nomination papers will be submitted today (Sunday) by 5 pm.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Hammad Azhar has said that Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan has been nominated for the Punjab chief ministership now, after holding consultations citing current political situation.
Azhar, who also holds position of the party’s acting president of Punjab chapter, said that Imran Khan had earlier nominated Mian Aslam for the post but heavy contingents of the police force were deployed outside the Punjab Assembly to arrest him. Citing the situation, the politico said that the party leadership decided to nominate Rana Aftab after holding consultations with the former.
