NOWSHERA: The members of the business community here on Wednesday staged a protest against the unannounced loadshedding in various localities particularly the cantonment.
The members of the business community carrying banners and placards blocked the GT Road to traffic.Chanting slogans against the government, the protesters said Nowshera Cantt was a commercial feeder and the consumers were paying the electricity bills but even then they were facing record power cuts.
The protestors closed the GT road at Shubra Chowk for all kinds of traffic from both sides.Addressing the protesters, the speakers said that Pesco had made life miserable for them by carrying out unannounced loadshedding. They asked the chief executive of Pesco to take action against the relevant officials who were responsible for this situation. The office-bearers of the Anjuman-e-Tajiran, Nowshera including Sher Zameen Shah, Qazi Usman and others led the protesters. They said that the power cuts had disrupted routine life and business activities. They said that the frequent power outages had created the shortage of the water at mosques and homes.
