This refers to the letter ‘FBR reform’ (January 25, 2024) by AR Siddiqui. The restructuring of the FBR would undoubtedly help improve the performance of the organization as suggested by the writer. However, the important question remains if it would minimize the extent of tax evasion and tax avoidance.
Strict monitoring, plugging of loopholes, effective vigilance and keeping a check on corrupt practices are the key factors to ensure better results.
