KHAR: The staff members of the District Headquarters Hospital here on Saturday staged a protest against the killing of senior polio eradication officer Dr Abdul Rahman.
The doctors, paramedics and other staff members of the DHQ Hospital staged the protest outside the Civil Colony in Khar Town. It may be mentioned that unidentified armed men gunned down District Polio Coordinator Dr Abdul Rahman in Mamund tehsil in Bajaur on Friday.
The employees suspended services at the DHQ Hospital, which caused inconvenience to the patients. Chanting slogans, the protesters demanded the government to arrest the perpetrators at the earliest and provide justice to the family of the slain doctor.
The family of the doctor, they said, should be extended compensation under the Shaheed package. They said the law and order had deteriorated in Bajaur so efforts should be put in place to improve the situation.
The protesters dispersed and ended the protest when Deputy Commissioner Anwar-ul-Haq assured them that the government would spare no effort to bring the accused to justice.
