KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lt. General (R) Nazir Ahmed has assured the president of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) that the NAB will facilitate the business fraternity in the country as there should be no harassment of the trade and industry.
NAB Chairman conveyed the assurance to this effect as he met FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh here on Tuesday. FPCCI senior office-bearers and other senior NAB officials also attended the meeting.
An FPCCI press release said that Sheikh had a detailed and candid meeting with the NAB chief to discuss pending accountability cases related to the fraternity of businessmen in the country.
The NAB chairman in the meeting, in principle, agreed that the business community should be facilitated and there should be no harassment of the trade and industry.
“Atif Ikram Sheikh elaborated that Chairman NAB told the FPCCI office-bearers that, in order to alleviate the concerns of businessmen, he will conduct the review and reassessment of the pending NAB cases pertaining to business community and all those cases which are not genuine, valid or are unnecessary will be dropped,” said the FPCCI statement.
The process is expected to complete quickly i.e. within the next two months, the statement quoted the FPCCI president as saying. It is pertinent to note that Husnain Ahmed, Director General Operations NAB and Javed Akbar Riaz, Director General NAB Sindh, were also present on the occasion.
Whereas, president FPCCI was accompanied by Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, SVP FPCCI; Asif Inam, VP FPCCI; Khalid Tawab, Hanif Gohar, Mazhar Ali Nasir and Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, former SVPs FPCCI; Ahmed Chinoy and Mustafa Shekhani; among some other top business community leaders.
