Couple, daughter injured in gas cylinder explosion
A couple and their daughter were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in the Lyari area on Thursday. The explosion took place at a residential building near the Khadda Market in Lyari. Upon receiving the information, police, rescuers and firefighters reached the property and transported the casualties to the burns ward of the Civil Hospital, Karachi.
The firefighters put out the fire erupted at a residential apartment following the explosion. Police said a residential apartment in the area experienced a powerful explosion apparently due to a gas leakage, resulting in injuries to a man, his wife and their daughter.
The incident occurred in the first-floor of a residential apartment where a gas cylinder exploded apparently due to gas leakage while cooking in the kitchen, causing a fire in the flat. The injured persons included 36-year-old Saleem, his 33-year-old wifeHameeda and their 12-year-old daughter Nafisa.
Police said the woman was cooking in the kitchen when suddenly gas began to leak from the cylinder and unexpectedly, the cylinder exploded with a powerful blast, causing burn injuries to the three family members. The explosion also caused damage to the flat. The authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
