NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTIP) Chairman Pervez Khattak on Sunday accused the main political parties of turning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a lab for carrying out various experiments and asked the people to reject them in the February 8 general elections.

“These experiments left KP far behind in progress. Not only this province but also the entire country needs a sincere leadership to rectify the wrongs done in the past,” he said while speaking at public meetings as part of his campaign for general elections.

Pervez Khattak, who served the KP chief minister from 2013 to 2018 during the PTI government in the province and remained a federal minister for almost four years when the party was in power at the Centre, said he took a number of practical steps for developing this region, unlike his predecessors whom he accused of doing paying only lip-service.

“I launched a host of mega development projects such as Bus Rapid Transit, Pak-China Economic Corridor in KP, Rashakai Special Economic Zone, Azakhel Dryport, etc,” he said while adding that his successor Mahmood Khan later carried forward this process.

The PTIP chief came down hard on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and Awami National Party after accusing them of deceiving masses with catchy slogans.

He said even PTI fooled the people by promising them a change. “This party had promised to provide 10 million jobs to the youth and construct five million houses for the poor. But the Tabdeeli Khan snatched two-time meal and shelter from the destitute instead of materializing his own promises,” he added.

Pervez Khattak criticized his brother, Liaqat Khattak, who is a member of the JUIF. “Let me tell you he [Liaqat] had won the election just being my brother as nobody knew him with any other reference,” he said.

The PTI chief was critical of those who were repeatedly calling for a level-playing field for all the political parties. “This mantra is in fact meant to make the upcoming general elections controversial,” he added.

Reminding the people of the huge development schemes completed by him in the past, he asked them to vote into power the PTIP candidates so that the process for their prosperity should continue without any disruption.

The PTIP candidate for NA-34 and PK-89, Dr Imran Khattak, PK-85 aspirant Ibraim Khattak, and PK-86 candidate, Ismail Khattak addressed the public meetings as well which were arranged at Kotar Panr, Pahari Kattikhel and Nowshera Kalaan.
