Khyber Teaching Hospital treated 1,608,263 patients in year 2023

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar has handled 1,037,198 patients at the accident & emergency department while 571,065 patients were treated in the outpatient department of the facility.

The spokesman for KTH, Mohammad Sajjad Khan, said that 39209 operations were conducted, 1,954,188 different types of laboratory tests, 254,772 X-rays, 162,581 ultrasounds, 7382 CT scans and 3103 MRIs were performed.

Khyber Teaching Hospital is the second largest public sector hospital in the province where thousands of patients get treatment facilities every year.

These patients belong to Peshawar and its surroundings and the whole province as well as patients from Afghanistan are also benefited from the treatment here. This hospital consists of 1600 beds.

At the same time, many developmental works were done in 2023, which happened for the first time in the history of Khyber Teaching Hospital, in which Pakistan’s first 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, renovation of two medical wards, with modern facilities.

Establishment of well-equipped surgical, medical and peds ICUs complex, purchase and installation of cath lab machinery for cardiology, renovation of private rooms, establishment of day care center, hospital waste incinerator machine, emergency modern medical gas pipeline, modern dialysis unit and also modern machinery for different departments of the hospital were bought in the building so that facilities can be provided to the patients according to international standards.
