‘Gang war target killer’ arrested
The District City police on Tuesday arrested gang war commander Hasan Ali alias Pappu alias Kana in the Kalakot police remit in the wee hours.
The suspect was wanted by the police in several cases of target killings and other crimes, including attacks on Police Lines.
Officials said the hitman was the most wanted and brutal terrorist and had created an atmosphere of fear by forming several torture cells in Lyari. He had been involved in more than 25 serious incidents.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he was trying to form a group of young boys from Lyari to work on an extortion network and then use them to threaten traders and builders. He said he was secretly planning to make extortion slips and telephone calls. In 2009, the suspect, along with his accomplices, attacked the Kalakot Police Lines with grenades and rocket launchers.
