BAJAUR/QUETTA: The security forces on Sunday gunned down three terrorists in Bajaur who were trying to sneak into Pakistan from Afghanistan, said the ISPR in a statement.

The security forces engaged the terrorists and killed three of them after an exchange of intense fire. “Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered on their person.”

In another incident that took place late Saturday night, terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a Pakistani border post in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan district, reports Geo News.

The troops responded in a befitting manner causing considerable losses to the terrorists. During the exchange of fire, Naik Abdul Rauf, 31, from Rahim Yar Khan district, was martyred.

“The interim Afghan government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan,” said the statement.

Earlier in the day, security forces killed at least five terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Mashkai area of Awaran district of Balochistan on Saturday night.

The hideout of terrorists was also busted and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was recovered, according to the ISPR.

The sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists in the area. “The security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts of sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,” the statement said.
