KU announces admissions for MPhil, PhD programmes

The registrar of the University of Karachi, Professor Dr Moazam Ali Khan, on Wednesday announced admissions in MPhil, PhD, MS and MD programmes for the year 2016.
The admissions have been offered in the departments of Arabic, Criminology (MPhil only), Economics, English, General History, International Relations, Islamic History. Mass Communication, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sindhi, Sociology, Social Work, Urdu, Agriculture and Agribusiness Management, Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Applied Physics, Botany, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Food Science & Technology, Genetics, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Physiology, Statistics (MPhil only), Zoology, Special Education, Education (M.Phil only) , Quran and Sunnah, Usooluddin, Islamic Learning, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Public Administration, Business Administration, Commerce and School of Law (PhD only), while MS and MD offered in Faculty of Medicine.
The registrar said that admissions would also be given in the Dr A Q Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, the Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine (Molecular Medicine), the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Sustainable Halophyte Utilisation, the Marine Reference Collection and Resources Center, the National Nematological Research Centre, the National Centre for Proteomics, the Institute of Space and Planetary Astrophysics, the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Studies, the Institute of Marine Science, the Institute of Environmental Studies, the Centre for Plant Conservation and the Pakistan Study Centre.
He mentioned that candidates could download the prospectus and form from the KU official website (www.uok.edu.pk) in between April 20 and April 28. He directed them to submit the form in the respective departments along with the required documents and fee of Rs3,000 in the form of pay order in favor of the University of Karachi.
He further said that applicants of PhD (Law) and MS/MD were supposed to submit Rs6,000 fee in the form of pay order in favor of University of Karachi and those forms should be submitted in the School of Law and the BASR section respectively.
According to the registrar, the list of eligible candidates would be put on display on the website on May 10.
The aspiring candidates eligible for the KU entry test will be required to collect the admit cards from May 10 and 11 from the relevant departments.
He further mentioned that the entry test would be held on Sunday, May 15, at 10am.
The candidates are required to report at 9:30am at the respective department with admit card and original CNIC whereas the list of successful candidates would be announced on the official website on May 23.
