Kakar approves appointment of 39 trade officers abroad

ISLAMABAD: On the summary of Ministry of Commerce, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has approved the deputation of 39 trade officers in foreign countries.

Sources said as many as 8 officers of PBS-20, 22 officers of PBS-19 and 9 officers of BPS-18 were deputed as trade officers.

Those who were deputed as trade and investment ministers include Shagufta Zareen for Jakarta, Irfan Waheed for Riyadh, Hanif Channa for Washington, Muhammad Naseem Rasheed for Addis Ababa and Riaz Ahmed Shaikh for London.

Those who were deputed as consular generals include Shahzad Ahmed for Hong Kong, Qamar Zaman for Sydney and Fawad Ali Shah for Shanghai while Ahsan Riaz Chaudhry was deputed as trade and investment consular for Stockholm and Muhammad Athar Ishaq for Warsaw.

The other trade and investment consulars include Altamash Janjua for Toronto, Shafique Haider for Hague, Yasir Hussain for Rome, Tahira Jawaid for Kuala Lumpur, Ali Asghar for Madrid, Hasan Farid for Seoul, Adnan Mahmood for New York, Madiha Ali for Tokyo, Rizwana Kazi for Almaty, Ali Rasool for Mexico, Ali Zaib for Dubai, Mauzzam Raza for Bangkok, Fariha Khan for Casablanca, Nazish Sami for Buenos Aires, Sadia Khan for Jeddah, Babar Khan for Qandahar, Ashfaq Ahmed for Nairobi, Owais Butt, Ali Adnan Zaidi and Dr Babar Chohan.

The trade officers have been deputed for a period of three years. The interviews for appointing trade officers were conducted by the board under the chair of Minister for Commerce Gohar Aijaz.
