Rs2.84bn PC-1 approved for 374-km cycling track in Islamabad
The 374-kilometers long eco-friendly project would be completed in three phases in three years
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority Development Working Party (CDADWP) has approved Rs2.84 billion PC-1 of development of cycling track in the federal capital.
The approval was granted at a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Captain (retd) Anwarul Haq.
The 374 kilometers long eco-friendly project would be completed in three phases in three years. The cycling track will covering all the sectors of Islamabad, would also be linked with metro bus service and 13 routes of federal buses which would be in service from the next month. The cycling track would have 350 parking stations.
According to details, the work on infrastructure development would be carried out by CDA while private operator would provide electric cycles. All the parking stations would be outsourced.
While following model of Netherlands and UK, the width of track would be six to 10 feet while all protective measures including installation of signals would also be done.
