Activity arranged to encourage land registration

PESHAWAR: The US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Land Registration in Merged Areas Activity second arranged seventh of “Hujra Meetings” here on Thursday.

Board of Revenue Secretary II Tariq Ali Khan was the chief guest. The government officials, elders, representatives of local organizations, including over 100 people of Hasankhel attended the function. A communication said the purpose of these events and meetings was to encourage local people and community leaders to participate in the land registration and settlement process.

These meetings are expected to help build trust, awareness and encourage people to work together. These meetings are needed to create a better and fairer system for land registration.The hujra gatherings in different areas and consultation is to get people’s support in the whole process.

The USAID is helping the KP government to regulate land registration in the tribal areas, which is a major cause of individual and tribal conflicts. Tariq Ali Khan said that the government is responsible for resolution of land issues, but people have to help in land registration and record as land registration is also very important for solving tribal disputes.

A Pashto mushaira was organized for public awareness on land registration and records. A stage drama was presented.
