Addressing traffic issues: CM approves protected U-turns at six points

LAHORE:Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday chaired a meeting focusing on addressing traffic issues in the City. The meeting approved the establishment of protected U-turns at the six busiest intersections in the City to streamline traffic flow.

The chief minister set a deadline of January 19 for the implementation of these U-turns at Qadir Topash Chowk, Gujjumatta Chowk, Nishtar Chowk, Khokhar Chowk, and Joray Pull Chowk.

Additionally, approval was granted to relocate Babu Sabu Toll Plaza, and various proposals were examined to alleviate congestion at the Thokar Niaz Baig entrance on Multan Road. A consensus was reached to direct heavy traffic onto the M2 Motorway. The chief minister emphasised the need for sustainable measures to ensure smooth traffic flow on Multan Road.

The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police, Additional IG, Secretary Communication and Works, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, CCPO, CTO, and relevant officials.

Punjab to export fodder to UAE

The caretaker Punjab government has approved measures to export high-protein fodder from Punjab to the UAE.

The decision was taken in a meeting held here on Tuesday under the chair of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting approved measures to enhance the cultivation of high-protein ‘alfalfa’ fodder for livestock development, emphasising the scientific drying and preservation of this nutrient-rich feed.

The government planned to provide seeds to farmers for cultivating ‘alfalfa’ fodder and exploring various proposals for breed insemination to boost dairy development were also discussed.

The chief minister directed the full functionality of the Food Research Centre in Sargodha to augment the production of high-protein fodder, aiming to capitalise on the potential for increased beef and mutton exports. He highlighted discussions during his visit to the UAE, where the export of high-protein fodder and the demand for dry fodder from the UAE were key points of consideration.

The meeting was told that positive outcomes of disease-free compartment in the Punjab province were reported. Emphasising the necessity of modern technology and local expertise for livestock development, the chief minister stressed the importance of attracting local farmers to adopt model farming techniques.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Planning and Development chairman, secretaries of agriculture, wildlife, livestock, transport, and others.
