Naqvi rules out delay in elections
LAHORE: Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed confidence that there would be no delay in general elections in country.
Addressing the media during his visit to the Central Business District (CBD) project site, Friday, the CM expressed commitment to completing the ongoing work within one and a half months.
The chief minister inspected the road stretching from Kalma Chowk to Walton, reviewing the ongoing construction activities. He assured that collaborative efforts with DHA would address traffic issues on Walton Road, and the connection of Walton Road to Main Boulevard is advancing swiftly, with expectations for completion by January 31. Additionally, a new bridge linking Walton Road to Lahore Bridge is in progress, creating a new route from Ferozepur Road, slated to begin construction in the coming days.
Highlighting upcoming projects, Mohsin Naqvi mentioned the imminent commencement of work on the T-junction at Garden Town square to alleviate traffic problems. He noted that the Diplomatic Enclave is nearing completion, awaiting NOC from the Foreign Office, and emphasised the quality and speed of CBD's work on 8 to 10 major projects, assuring timely completion.
In response to a question, the chief minister expressed respect for the courts, emphasising the importance of respect regardless of personal opinions. Regarding smog concerns, he acknowledged the need for comprehensive research, suggesting a more thorough investigation into the causes and timing of smog in Pakistan. He asserted the necessity of improving smog studies through collaboration with research institutes.
He underscored the priority of improving hospital conditions, particularly those catering to the less privileged. Regarding general elections, he expressed confidence that there would be no delay. He provided updates on waste treatment projects, affirming efforts to complete them by January 31. He highlighted initiatives in waste treatment for various areas, including Gujarpura, and emphasised the implementation of minimum wage decisions in factories and industrial units, ensuring action against non-compliance.
Inaugurates scientific moot at KEMUThe caretaker chief minister announced dedicating Mayo Hospital's surgical tower to Prof Dr Faisal Masood. Additionally, he announced his intention of recommending Dr Maqbool Ahmed for a civil award, acknowledging his role in constructing the surgical tower with one and a half billion rupees. The chief minister inaugurated the 43rd Annual five-day International Scientific Conference at King Edward Medical University as the Chief Guest. He visited stalls showcasing innovations by students and teachers, including the Brain Tumour Detector OCT Python and a laparoscopy simulator developed by KEMU doctors.
Overseas graduates of KEMC presented him with substantial donations for the medical college and hospital.Addressing the conference, the CM emphasised the noble nature of the medical profession. He commended the dedication of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff, acknowledging their sacrifices and the risks they face daily. He outlined ongoing hospital upgrades, targeting completion by January 31.
TDCP Darshan Resort in Kartarpur approved
A meeting chaired by the chief minister approved establishing the TDCP Darshan Resort in Kartarpur. The project for a hotel connected to the Kartarpur Corridor was greenlit during the session. TDCP is slated to construct a 50-room hotel, enhancing the Darshan experience in Kartarpur.
Mohsin Naqvi expressed commitment to providing Sikh yatrees with top-notch facilities in Punjab, extending a warm invitation to Sikh brothers beyond religious tourism. The chief minister called for a holistic plan to ensure the success of the Kartarpur Darshan Resort initiative.
