Torture victim Rizwana discharged from hospital
LAHORE: Rizwana, a victim of domestic violence, who underwent treatment at the Lahore General Hospital for 18 weeks, has been discharged upon regaining her health.
Professor Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar, the Principal of Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical College, provided Rizwana with school bags, books, uniforms, and other essential items.
He also assured the girl’s family of continued support for education and other future needs. He told them that this step has laid the foundation for Rizwana to pursue higher education.
Professor Zafar also announced certificates of appreciation for the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who diligently treated Rizwana over the 18-week duration.
Speaking to Geo News, Rizwana, who has been placed under the custody of the Child Protection Bureau, said that she missed her mother and had informed her about leaving the hospital.
Recalling her experiences of violence, she alleged the judge, her wife as well as their children would often beat her. She said she was repeatedly hit on existing wounds, and never taken to any doctor or hospital.
Rizwana said that she used to do all chores from washing clothes to cleaning the house and working in the kitchen.
