Ton-up Yasir helps Rawalpindi outclass FATA in National T20
KARACHI: Rawalpindi recorded second successive win in the Super Eight stage of the National T20 Cup as opener Yasir Khan scored a splendid 107, while Lahore Whites edged Lahore Blues and Peshawar overcame Karachi Whites in different matches at various grounds here on Saturday.
In the one-sided match at the UBL Sports Complex, Peshawar outclassed Karachi Whites 56 runs having scored 186 runs after being put into bat.
Early on, Karachi Whites’s decision to bowl first looked fruitful after their bowlers reduced the opponent team at 43-3. But a wonderful 143-run fourth wicket stand between Iftikhar Ahmed and Adil Amin not only rescued Peshawar, but also helped them post a competitive total.
Iftikhar scored 72 runs off 45 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes, while Adil also looked in good touch lacing 75 runs, as both batters ended unbeaten in 20 overs.
For Karachi W, Sohail Khan, Ghulam and Arif Yaqoob picked a wicket each, but conceded an economies of almost ten an over.
In reply, opener Khurram Manzoor got out on the third ball, while Ammad Alam (32) and Omair Yousuf (24) tried to steady the ship with a 56-run stand.
But Iftikhar and Azam Khan send them back to the hut one after the other. Skipper Asad Shafiq, Azam Khan and Danish Aziz all failed to even enter into the double digits, while Sohail Khan scored 34 runs. Mohammad Imran and Iftikhar picked three wickets a piece for Peshawar.
In the other contest National Bank Stadium, Rawalpindi won against FATA by 7 wickets.
