Two suspects who robbed citizens returning from banks held

The Counter Terrorism Department on Wednesday claimed arresting two alleged robbers who were involved in robbing people returning from banks.

CTD Incharge Chaudhry Muhammad Safdar said that the CTD investigation department acted on a tip-off in the Soldier Bazaar area from where two suspects were arrested on charges of robbing citizens as they returned with money from banks. Two pistols were found on the suspects, identified as Rizwan Ali and Munir. They were moved to the investigation unit.

It was the CTD investigation department’s third major operation in 15 days, Chaudhry Safdar said and added that cases had also been registered against the accused by the CTD and the SIU.

The two had been arrested in different cases and had gone to jail earlier. During the interrogation, they confessed to committing most of the snatchings in Defence, Gulshan, Ferozabad, Surjani, Azizabad, Jauharabad, Khawaja Ajmer Nagari, Sir Syed, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Sharea Faisal. DSP Safdar requested citizens who were mugged by the accused persons to contact their relevant police stations. Further investigations are underway.
