The Customs Intelligence on Monday booked a businessman among others for allegedly causing a loss of Rs275 million to the national exchequer through under-invoicing of the imports.
Customs spokesperson Syed Irfan Ali said that the intelligence wing of the law enforcement agency conducted a raid at the office of Food Links International in Karachi, recovering fake invoices which showed the value of vegetable oil and other products imported from Indonesia lower than the actual.
The spokesperson added that the importer was involved in clearing goods from the port on fake invoices of lower value to evade duties and taxes, which are estimated to be around Rs275 million.
