This letter refers to the news report ‘Islamabad’s air quality unhealthy’ (November 20, 2023). Air pollution in the city has increased due to slow construction work and the uprooting of trees. Projects are not completed on time which causes air pollution. We can see that delay in work on the E 11/F 11 interchange and the 11th Avenue is spreading dust in the surrounding areas.
Planting more trees is a big part of the solution to this problem as a greener environment leads to cleaner air. This exercise ought to be made a compulsory part of our children’s education. Action must be taken now so that our future generations can breathe clean air.
