A man lost his life and another sustained serious injuries as a speeding car overturned in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Friday.

This added to the grim toll of over 600 lives lost in road accidents in Karachi this year, with more than 10,000 others wounded. The accident occurred in Phase VIII near Khayaban-e-Faisal when a speedy car lost control and overturned. The accident resulted in one fatality and severe injuries to the other occupant. The vehicle was destroyed, and preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the car collided with a speed bump in the middle of the road.

The high speed was so impactful that the car was left entirely wrecked after hitting the speed bump, according to the police. Both occupants were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Mir Hamza Zehri, the driver of the ill-fated car, succumbed to injuries during treatment. The other injured person was identified as Sher Muhammad. The police have collected evidence from the scene, and further investigations are underway to determine the details surrounding the incident.
