Cop martyred in Tank

TANK: Suspected militants martyred a cop at the Tank-Wana road here on Tuesday. The attackers riding motorcycles fired at constable Sharif Uddin, a telecommunication wireless operator, leaving him dead on the spot.

After the incident, District Police Officer Iftikhar Ali Shah, SP Investigation Nasir Khan, DSP Headquarters Abdul Rasheed Khan Marwat, DSP Sub-Division Jandola Syed Marjan Khan along with Elite Force and personnel of the Quick Response Force reached the spot.

The policemen shifted the martyred cop to the District Headquarters Hospital in Tank for post-mortem and started a search operation in the area. Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of the martyred cop was performed with full state honours at the DPO Office Tank.

District Police Officer Iftikhar Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shoaib, SP Investigation Nasir Khan and Assistant Commissioner Jamshed Alam and others attended the funeral.

The officers laid floral wreaths on the body of the martyred constable and presented a salute to his coffin. Later the body of the martyr was sent to his native village Adam Abad for burial.
