MANSEHRA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Women Wing leader Sajida Tabassum on Sunday said the administration was creating hurdles for her party to stage a gathering in Abbottabad on November 16.

“Our party is used to playing well despite all odds. We will attract a huge crowd in our public meeting to be addressed by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at an alternative venue after the administration banned our gathering at the college ground in the city,” she said while speaking at a press conference.

Flanked by her party district office-bearers, Tabassum said that her party workers were going door-to-door to invite people in Mansehra and the rest of Hazara division to show up at the gathering.

“We sought permission to hold a public gathering at the Postgraduate College in Abbottabad city, but the district administration turned down our plea and asked us to hold this meeting at the Police Officers Colony ground out of the city,” she said.

Tabassum, who is a former MPA, said that PPP Women Wing provincial president Senator Robina Khalid visited Hazara and met office-bearers and activists of PPP in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Battagram and Kohistan.

“A good number of women would welcome Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to address the public meeting as the Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to hold the upcoming general election on Feb 8 next year,” she said. Tabassum said the PPP would field candidates in every national and provincial assembly’s constituency in Hazara and the rest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
