NAPA presents tribute to Ameer Khusrau
The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) paid a glowing tribute to Ameer Khusrau on Sunday evening by presenting a selection of his songs to an audience filled to capacity at their Zia Mohyeddin Theater.
The songs were sung by Nazia Zuberi-Hassan. Her performance was much appreciated by the audience. She began with Zihaal-e Miskeen, known as the first song of its kind in which Khusrau mixed Persian and Urdu verses beautifully.
The singer then went on to sing Amma Meray Bava Ko Bhaijo Ri, Sakal Ban Phool Rahee Sarson, and Sakhee Ri Moray Nain, before a narration introduced some details of Khusrau’s literary achievements.
Then she moved on to present Jo Piya Avan Keh Gaey, Bohat Kathin Hai Dagar, Ae Ri Sakhee Moray, Mohay Apnay Hee Rang Mein, and Jab Yaar Dekha Nain Bhar. After another narration about Khusrau’s life, Nazia sang Acchay Banay Mehndi Laavan De, Ambva Talay Dola Rakh de, Mohay Rakh Le Tu Aaj, Kahe Ko Byahi Bidais, and Chhaap Tilak.
