After hospitals’ revamp: Patients to get modern treatment facilities, says minister

LAHORE: Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram visited Services Hospital and reviewed the emergency and revamping plan of the hospital in detail. Services Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Prof Dr Zohra Khanum and MS Dr Munir Ahmad Malik gave a briefing to the minister.

Dr Javed Akram said that the project of revamping more than 100 government hospitals of Punjab was going on successfully. Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi is personally monitoring the revamping project of government hospitals and is trying his best to improve the conditions of the hospitals. The minister said that after the upgradation of government hospitals, provision of modern treatment facilities to patients would be ensured. Better treatment of patients in government hospitals is government’s top priority.

Turkish delegation calls on Dr Javed

A delegation of Medtronics Company of Turkey met with the caretaker provincial health minister Prof Dr Javed Akram in the department of specialised healthcare and medical education. Medtronics Company Vice-President Dr Ayan Auztrik, Country Head Shahid Manzoor, Regional Manager Muhammad Bilal and Manager Toqeer Abbas were there.

Punjab Institute of Cardiology Chairman Board of Management Prof Dr Farqad Alamgir and Additional Secretary Procurement Mazhar Ahmed were also present.

The minister said that Turkey's health system is an example all over the world. Pakistan and Turkey have excellent fraternal relations. ‘We are grateful to the people of Turkey and Medtronic Company for offering support to Punjab's health system’, Dr Javed Akram said.

Minister attends moot

The health minister participated as a special guest in the three-day international conference based on Allama Iqbal's concepts of peace and progress at the University of Home Economics. Iranian Consul General Raza, Vice-Chancellor University of Home Economics Prof Dr Syeda Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Lahore College for Women University VC Prof Dr Shagufta Naz, Wasif Nagi, Dr Uzma Qureshi and students, including foreign intellectuals participated. In his address, the minister said that Allama Iqbal is the name of a thought and philosophy.
