BARA: Chief Collector of Customs for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saeed Akram said on Friday that his department had seized non-custom-paid goods worth Rs1.745 billion in operations during the last four months.
Speaking to journalists, Akram stated that the Customs Collectorate of Intelligence and Enforcement had conducted over 60 raids in the mentioned period.He said that various NCP items, including vehicles, black tea, cosmetics, and other goods were also confiscated, with several accused arrested and cases registered against them.
Akram said that all the goods had been confiscated at various locations such as Torkham in Khyber, Bacha Khan Airport, and checkposts, as those were being imported from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
He said the foreign goods also included gold, foreign currency, auto parts, cloth, tires, and other items. He said that non-custom-paid goods adversely affected Pakistani factories and the economy, which is why the Customs squads were working to curb the flight of such items into the country.
