ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah Wednesday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan could not control his party members but levelled allegations against other parties.
“Imran Khan’s tirade against the political parties showed that he did not have trust in his party members and accused other parties of horse-trading,” he said while talking to a group of newsmen at his chamber after chairing a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Commenting on the Imran Khan’s recent statements in which he accused the other political parties of horse-trading in the Senate elections, the opposition leader said Imran Khan was at war with all the political parties.
Khursheed said that he was surprised when Imran Khan praised a man who offered him Rs150 million for Senate’s seat. “I fail to understand how one can praise such a person who offers anyone such an amount to get a party ticket,” he questioned.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was benefited from PPP’s politics of reconciliation and should show the goodwill gesture by paving the way for opposition to the slot of the Senate chairman.
To a question, he called for holding transparent elections for the Upper House of Parliament on Thursday.Asked whether the opposition could get the slots of the Senate chairman and deputy chairman, the opposition leader said if the opposition stood united and contested the elections for these slot, it was expected to clinch both the slots in the Upper House of Parliament.
