Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath on  Friday

KARACHI: The British prime minister has set an example for the ruling family of Pakistan, said Shahzeb Khanzada on Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’ on Friday.

Not only did David Cameron acknowledge having received benefits from his father’s offshore company but he also disclosed all the details about the funds.

Shahzeb said that the Panama leaks have given a new impetus to Imran Khan to step forward. The PTI chairman has indicated the beginning of the second massive movement against the government.

Imran Khan is giving final touches to the movement against the government, and this time round he will go to Raiwind instead of Islamabad.

Shahzeb Khanzada said proceedings of the parliament in the democratic countries are televised live, and the Speaker of our National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, had announced of a similar channel. The speaker’s promise is awaiting its fulfillment.

He said that people have been criticizing the PTV for not having telecast yesterday’s session of the National Assembly. This was a major lapse on part of the PTV since the session in question carried huge importance.

Shahzeb Khanzada said that the PTV dutifully telecasts addresses by Chaudhry Nisar, Ishaq Dar or anybody else if they happen to be allies of the government. The press conference against Shaukat Khanum Hospital and in defence of the government, which was addressed by Daniyal Aziz, Pervez Rashid and Mohammad Zubair, was also telecast live by the PTV. But it failed to telecast the very important National Assembly session.

Imran Khan has now written a letter to the PTV, saying that he wants to address the nation.

In a different segment of the programme, Shahzeb Khanzada said that the leader of the Pak Sarzameen Party, Mustafa Kamal, was seen on the streets of Karachi after a gap of over a month. Kamal visited different areas of Karachi and invited the people to attend the public meeting on April 24.

In a still different segment of the programme, Shahzeb Khanzada said that the Punjab government has acted against the “court” set up by the Jamaatul Dawa. Rana Sanaullah has ordered the “court” to seize functioning.

Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid, while talking to Shahzeb Khanzada on the programme, said that the government has offered itself for accountability. The minister said that the inquiry commission will have all the powers.

Pervez Rashid said that the PTI in the past had not honoured the decision of a commission comprising Supreme Court judges, and there is no guarantee that the PTI would accept the decisions of the commission this time round. He said that even if the prime minister writes to the Chief Justice for the constitution of a commission, the PTI will not be satisfied, and it will raise some other objections because the PTI knows that its charges lack authenticity. It just wants to politically exploit the issue of Panama Leaks.

The minister, while commenting on a statement of Imran Khan in which he had referred to the PTV as a national institution, said that Imran had been congratulating his men during an attack on the PTV in the past.

Pervez Rashid said that the PTV would have telecast the proceedings of the session of the National Assembly if the Speaker had ordered it to do so.

A PTI leader, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said on the programme that the prime minister has been asking for a mute commission, and the nation has already rejected the prime minister’s scheme. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the Supreme Court Bar Association has also rejected the prime minister’s proposed commission.

The PTI leader said that the prime minister should constitute an empowered commission under the leadership of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the services of a reputed foreign forensic audit company should be acquired to assist the commission.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government’s stance on not telecasting Imran Khan’s speech on PTV is a clear evidence of the confusion the government is suffering from. PTV is a national institution, and it does not belong to the PML-N. He said he would like to request the Speaker of the National Assembly and the federal information minister to telecast live the proceedings of the joint session of the Parliament on April 11.

Senior analyst Mazhar Abbas said that the public meeting on April 24 is going to be a test not only of Mustafa Kamal but that of the MQM as well. He said that if Mustafa Kamal manages to stage a huge public meeting it will come as a huge surprise to the MQM and other parties.
