ISLAMABAD: The people of the Jammu region bordering Pakistan and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel posted along the Working Boundary erupted in joy when the Indian cricket team scored a 76-run win over the neighbouring country’s squad in the World Cup on Sunday.
This was reported by the Indian government’s wire-service from the Hindu dominated area of occupied Kashmir late on Sunday evening. It’s among the areas where the Indians have been resorting to unprovoked firing against civilian population of Pakistan for many months and have martyred a number of civilians.
The report said that as soon as India won the match, the people in a large number came out on the roads in Jammu and started celebrating the victory in the first game played between the two sides in Adelaide by distributing sweets and bursting firecrackers.
Interestingly, no reaction from Srinagar and other parts of the occupied area where Muslim population is in majority has been reported. The Indian Army’s reaction indicates that anything that could hurt Pakistan or the Muslims is source of comfort for it.
“For Indians, especially the residents of Jammu which shares its border with Pakistan, any game between India and Pakistan is seen as the final of the world cup and today we have once again won the game,” Jaipreet Singh, a resident of Gandhi Nagar locality in Jammu said.
Singh said that he along with his friends would celebrate the victory of Team India over Pakistan. “The celebrations would go on for the whole night and we have shown the world that we will never let the men in green win in any game of the World Cup,” Singh said.
The personnel of the BSF deployed along the LoC also celebrated the victory of Team India by distributing sweets among themselves. “There is euphoria among the BSF personnel deployed along the LoC/Working Boundary, right now the celebrations are going on by distributing sweets amongst each other,” a senior BSF officer said. He said that the personnel were happy that Team India did not allow the Pakistani side to break its record of not losing a World Cup game to them. “Pakistan has never been able to win a World Cup game from India regardless of how close the matches have been, be it 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 and now we have added 2015 to the list,” he said. He said during the celebrations, there would be no let up in the vigil along the frontier.
